Islamia College of Commerce was established in 1966 as a private institution to impart commerce education up to intermediate level. It was upgraded to degree level (B. Com.) in 1970 when University of the Punjab granted affiliation to teach B. Com Classes. This institution was nationalized on 01-09-1972. It has been working under the aegis of Education Department, Government of the Punjab since its nationalization. The premises of this college spread over an area of 50 kanals comprising Admn. Block, Academic Block, Computer Labs, Dispensary, vast play ground, lush green lawns, Principal’s lodge, servant quarters, beautiful flowerbeds and all around boundary wall. There is a well equipped library, enriched with the latest editions of commerce related books. The institution has got prestige with the start of M. Com. Classes under world – wide renowned University of the Punjab, Lahore. The affiliation to teach M. Com. Classes was granted by the aforesaid University authorities under Semester system since 1992. Our M. Com. programme was temporarily suspended due to examination system which caused insufficient infrastructure to teach M.Com classes. The affiliation under new arrangement has been granted and now M.Com classes for morning and afternoon shifts are successfully running. In addition, the college has also started M.A. Economics classes. It was really an ever–memorizing time and event in the history of this college when honourable Vice – Chancellor of University of Punjab, in presence of worthy Controller of Examination and respected Principal Hailey College of Commerce awarded degrees, prizes and souvenirs to the students to the students of M. Com. as well as B. Com. Classes on May 31, 2001. As per policy and instructions of the Govt. 2nd shift classes of B.Com.(I.T) are in operation with an ever increasing turn–up.
